Cyclone Idai nearing landfall - 6pm EAT March 14, 2019

#CycloneIdai continues to proceed towards the city of Beira, Mozambique, as a Category 3 storm, where winds of 100kph are currently occurring with worse on the way. The storm's winds are likely to be severe, but its surge and flooding will be the main cause of devastation from this storm over the next five days across Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi, who have already suffered at least 71 fatalities and 577 injuries so far. Landfall is expected after dark this evening, with rapid dissipation likely afterwards. The rains, however, will long outlive its winds.
