Cyclone Idai moves further inland - 5pm CAT March 15, 2019

Sixteen hours after landfall, and #CycloneIdai is still a hurricane equivalent storm with winds of 75mph (120kph) and a pressure of 975mb. The storm is nearing the city of Chimoio, and is likely to deliver tremendous amounts of rainfall to the border region between Mozambique and Zimbabwe over the weekend. With the wider area already impacted by flooding last weekend - which killed at least 71 - it is feared more bad news is on the way from flooding, and from last night's landfall impact in the Beira area.
