Cyclone Freddy 14th March 2023, Blantyre, Malawi

After the worst Cholera outbreak in history Southern Malawi is now facing even bigger challenge - a battle with the strongest and longest tropical cyclone ever recorded in the Southern Hemisphere, according to the World Meteorological Organization. Experts says climate change is making tropical storms around the world wetter, windier and more intense! Our fellow trustee, team and friends living in Blantyre are facing the disaster and are regularly updating us on the situation. We are happy for every minute they have power and are able to communicate with us. Our hearts are broken and we are sending them love and prayers constantly. People living in rural areas are basically cut. The simple houses are most likely wiped out, there are no cars, the infrastructure is damaged and the whole region is facing power cuts. There is no access for rescue teams so it is very difficult to predict the damage and lost of lives.
