Cyclone Dikeledi Landfall Update as 100mph winds strike Mozambique

28/08/2026 · Force Thirteen

Descrição

Cyclone Dikeledi strengthened considerably earlier today, and in the last couple of hours made landfall in Mozambique, in Nampula province. The storm is slowly moving inland, and is likely to lose a fair bit of strength as it does so. The storm is dropping heavy rain over the area, with strong winds of up to 100 miles per hour. Flash flooding is likely in the region, particularly if the storm moves further inland. The future intensity of Dikeledi hinges upon how long it remains over or near land, with its restrengthening phase limited if the storm weakens considerably as it stalls over the coastline. Some strengthening is expected as the storm drops through the Mozambique Channel later this week, and affects the western coast of Madagascar later on. Storm force winds are expected there, along with more heavy rainfall of up to 250mm. This is the last thing Mozambique needs at the moment. Political turmoil and what not. I'm right next door and it's been raining for days here Thanks for the update

It could get stronger as it moves south, since there are warm waters in the straight. Stay safe for whoever's in the path

I was quite surprised when I woke up it had an eye at landfall

Strengthened right before landfall

I believe it made landfall at analysis 105/972, given much support.

Hate those cyclones over madagascar cause they suck al the moisrure from namibie and we get no rain

Well, I definitely missed it's secondary peak, lol. Surprised it managed to intensify up to C2 status, and pop out an eye right at landfall too. It looks like it'll head back out into the Mozambique Channel and could strengthen even more, although right now, it seems to be moving slowly...

Yo so the predictions were wrong about saying it will just go to the sea
