Cyclone Cheneso likely to rapidly develop - January 24, 2023

Cyclone Cheneso is returning from the dead off the coast of Madagascar, and is expected to intensify considerably along the coast over the next couple of days and cause more dangerous conditions across the island nation. Large amounts of rainfall are still expected in Menabe, Atsimo-Andrefana, Anasy, and Atsimo-Atsinanana provinces with maximums of up to 500mm in the next seven days. The storm itself will career away from the island by the end of the week, potentially as a powerful cyclone.

Elsewhere, an area of interest is likely to blow itself out as it continues past the top end of Australia and into the Indian Ocean.
