Cyclone Batsirai Live Coverage - 9pm EAT/10PM MUT February 3rd

Cyclone Batsirai continues to hammer the Mascarenes this evening as a dangerous category three storm on the Safir- Simpson Hurricane Scale / an intense Tropical Cyclone on the Meteo- France La Reunion Scale. At this time Mauritius has dropped all Class wind warnings for their island however they maintain a high wind and high wave warning for their island this evening. Meteo France La Reunion however is still maintaining their Cyclone Red Alert Status for their Island as Batsarai continues to graze La Reunion as it slowly moves west a snails pace of 4 mph (7kmh) Meteo Madagascar has raised Yellow level Cyclone Alerts across most of the central regions of the island with Green cyclone alerts being issued for the western coasts. Meteo Madagascar has also issued high wave warnings for all of their coast lines due to the strong waves and potential storm surge associated with Batsarati. Force Thirteen has Batsirai as a Stage 7 on the Cyclone Destruction Potential Scale. With a possible Category 4 landfall and over half a meter of rain being possible on Madagascar however any increase of rainfall or intensification beyond official forecasts could push Batsarai into Stage 8. This is a very dangerous situation for all regions that are being impacted and could be impacted in the days to come.
