Current Australian Weather Warnings | Tuesday 10 March 2026
Flooding continues to impact large parts of inland Australia today, with river systems across multiple states carrying the significant rainfall generated during the recent tropical weather period.
Starting in New South Wales, a marine wind warning is currently in place for the Byron Coast. Inland, minor flooding continues along the Paroo River in the far north-west of the state as floodwaters move south from Queensland through the Channel Country system. This same inland flow is also contributing to major flooding along the Thomson River and Cooper Creek, with minor flooding continuing along the Barcoo River.
In Victoria, marine wind warnings are currently in place for Port Phillip and the Central Coast as coastal winds strengthen across southern waters.
Queensland remains the most heavily impacted state, with widespread river flooding continuing across numerous catchments following the recent tropical rainfall. Major flood warnings remain in place for several river systems including the Dawson River, Mary River, Burnett River, Flinders River and Upper Balonne River. Additional moderate and minor flood warnings are active across many inland and coastal rivers, while a Flood Watch remains in place for much of the state. Marine wind warnings are also in effect for parts of the Capricornia Coast, K'gari Coast, Sunshine Coast Waters and Gold Coast Waters.
In Western Australia, marine wind warnings extend along much of the coastline including Perth Local Waters, the Pilbara Coast West, Ningaloo Coast, Gascoyne Coast and Geraldton Coast. Inland, a minor flood warning remains in place for the Fitzroy River.
Across Tasmania, marine wind warnings are currently active for the South West Lakes, Far North West Coast, South East Coast, South West Coast and Central West Coast.
In South Australia, marine wind warnings are in place for the Far West Coast. Inland river systems continue to carry floodwaters through the Channel Country, with major flooding along the Georgina River and Eyre Creek. Additional flooding continues along the Thomson River and Cooper Creek, with moderate flooding along the Western River and minor flooding along the Diamantina River.
Across the Northern Territory, major flooding continues along the Daly River, with moderate flooding along the Katherine River and additional river warnings for the Waterhouse and Roper Rivers. A Flood Watch also remains in place for parts of the Top End.
At this stage there are no active warnings for the Australian Capital Territory.
Please ensure you stay up to date with official warnings from both the Bureau and your local emergency areas. Please do not attempt to drive through floodwaters.
