Chasing the Unicorn traces the history of surfing in post-war Mozambique, while searching for a mythical wave known as the African Kirra.
Along the way we meet Sung Min Cho and Julia Fernando, the country’s leading surfers, and get acquainted with Mozambique’s burgeoning surf culture that has risen up in the wake of 30 years of armed conflict.

As a son of Mozambican emigrants in London im really Proud of this Country and its ppl i been skating since 1987 and hope that the scene there as a similar strength to this surf scene <3

Thank you for sharing this, as a Durban born kid who loved the sport so much growing u, but the family situation never permitted. I see a great future for us as Africans to realise the beauty of our continent and unite. that closing song had me cry like a little kid because of the beauty and potential we have as Africans no matter the tribe or race✌🏾❤🇿🇦

Thanks for sharing this story of this amazing community. I only hope that this African Kirra doesn't turn into another resort type of nightmare. But seems like its far enough off the grid to keep that from happening. Hopefully the locals get compensated and are provided with jobs in the process.
