Al Shabab kidnaps children in Mozambique | Abductions Surge in Cabo Delgado

Armed groups in northern Mozambique are abducting and recruiting children at alarming rates. Despite being bound by international treaties such as the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, Mozambique is struggling to prevent the use of child soldiers, a war crime under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

This report looks at the recent surge in child abductions, as documented by Human Rights Watch, and the urgent calls for a national strategy to protect and rehabilitate affected children. Voices from the Civil Society Forum for Children’s Rights are pushing for immediate action to shield children from the horrors of conflict in Cabo Delgado
