Africa 54: Recovering from Cyclone Idai

The Red Cross says it its deploying two major emergency response units to the port city of Beira in Mozambique to provide services for thousands of people affected by last week's Cyclone Idai, one of the most destructive storms to hit southern Africa in decades. VOA Senior Analyst Jeffrey Young spoke with officials from the UN World Food Program and the International Federation of the Red Cross about the huge challenges faced. And Northern Australia is bracing for a powerful cyclone that is expected to hit on Saturday. Authorities have begun evacuating about 2,000 people from areas on Cyclone Trevor's projected path. The preparations in Australia are underway as three southern African countries struggle with death and destruction brought on by Cyclone Idai.
